Our bodies appear to be solid, but in fact, we are 99.99% empty space filled with energetic, vibrating atoms, according to quantum physicists. For thousands of years, Tibetan monks have used singing bowls for healing. Antique Himalayan Singing Bowls are now used by many people for balancing and transforming the body's energy system and chakras.

Chakras are important energy centers or energy regulators within the physical body located next to a hormonal gland along the spinal column. Chakras continuously receive and transmit life-force energy from the Universe and distribute this vital energy to the glands and organs in the body for optimal health.

Each chakra has an influence over the endocrine glands and internal organs in that part of the body where the chakra is located. They influence many areas of our consciousness, our life, and our experiences. The chakras affect our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.

Yogis have used the chakra system for thousands of years in holistic healing. Along with maintaining our physical health, chakras also oversee various life issues. There are 7 main chakras. They can become out of balanced, stagnated, closed down, too open, and blocked which greatly affects our overall health and life experiences. When there is an imbalance in one chakra, if often affects the other chakras because they are interrelated.

The root chakra or base chakra or 1st chakra is located at the base of the spine. It is associated with issues of survival, the ability to feel secure, vitality, energy, drive, ambition, grounding, and balancing the sense of "fight or flight". Healing Affirmation: "I have. I notice love, trust, and care around me and supporting me. My needs are always met. I honor and take care of my body. I trust in the process and goodness of life. I belong. I choose to live. I am safe and secure. I accept myself as I am. I have enough." Red is the color of the root chakra and the musical note is C (Vedic) or F (Tibetan), although it is not an exact science. The following areas may be influenced: feet, legs, bones, nails, sex organs, base of spine, rectum, blood, reproduction, immune system, and pelvis.

The sacral chakra or 2nd chakra is located midway between the navel and the pubic bone (sexual organs). It is associated with the ability to connect with others through feelings, assimilating and letting go of experiences, creativity, emotions, pleasure, playfulness, balanced sexuality (male/female), and reproduction. Healing Affirmation: "I feel. I am happy and fulfilled. I am worthy of love and pleasure. I express my desires and do so comfortably. I am good enough. I am open and allow myself to experience the goodness in myself, others, and in life. I deserve goodness. It is safe to feel." Orange is the color of the sacral chakra and the musical note is D or C. The following areas may be influenced: liver, kidneys, lower/large intestines, lower back, vertebrae, appendix, hips, spleen, pancreas (female), elimination, bladder, muscular systems, and lymphatic system.

The solar plexus chakra or 3rd chakra is located midway between the breastbone and the navel. It is associated with self-esteem, self-confidence, self-will, personal power, the ability to manifest, prosperity, freedom to express yourself, emotions (especially blocked emotions), passion for living, and the ability to protect oneself from negativity and set healthy boundaries. I am in touch with my personal power and I use my power wisely. I make wise decisions, assume responsibility, and find my direction in life." Yellow is the color of the solar plexus chakra and the musical note is E or G. Clairsentience or psychic feeling is developed here. The following areas may be influenced: digestion, abdomen, stomach, upper/small intestines, gallbladder, pancreas (male), middle spine, adrenals, left brain hemisphere, and crippling symptoms.

The heart chakra or 4th chakra is located midway in the center of the chest. It is associated with compassion for yourself and others, friendship, empathy, joy, peace, harmony, and the ability to give and receive love. It is the house of your Soul. As you can clearly see, a healthy energy system, balanced chakras, and a raised consciousness are vitally important for a good life.

Here's some interesting information about chakra imbalances and what may cause the imbalances.

When your chakras are functioning normally, each one will be healthy, open the right amount, and spinning properly to metabolize life-force energy from the Universe to support your body, mind, emotions, and spirit.

However, imbalances in the chakras can occur when there is unreleased emotion such as fear, grief, anger, depression, guilt, or shame accumulated from past experiences or when there has been a lack of nurturing, love, and encouragement during the developmental period or later in life. Holding on to negative thoughts and difficult experiences consciously or even unconsciously can cause chakras to become imbalanced.

Whenever you block or deny an experience, rather than healing it, you also block the flow of energy to and from your chakras. The chakras can become blocked, clogged with stagnated energy, spin irregularly or backwards, closed, distorted, enlarged, torn, leak energy, and become dirty with dense, dark energy.

Energy imbalances or blockages can prevent chakras from providing sufficient vital energy for the body. Unbalanced or blocked chakras can create a whole range of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual conditions.

If you were to completely think thoughts of love and faith, your body's energy would flow smoothly within, between, and around the chakras. You would feel happy and healthy.

Fearful thoughts negatively affect your chakras' ability to function. They cause the chakras to become dirty, shrunken, or swollen. That is why you may feel out of sorts or lethargic and not know why. Obsessive thoughts cause the chakras to enlarge and become out of proportion.

Some believe that many people at least partially close down the top three chakras (Crown, Brow, and Throat) by the time they are three to eight years old as a reaction to the disbelief of family, friends, and society in the ability to connect with Spirit, deceased loved ones, and lack of belief or knowledge of the Divine from those around them.

Some also believe that during youth, the Heart or 4th Chakra may partially close or become blocked because of pain, conflict, and rejection from family, peers, society, and relationships. Difficult adult relationships and a poor relationship with yourself contribute to that.

The Solar Plexus or 3rd Chakra may also close down partially, become blocked, or leak energy when young people feel they must conform into molds they don't fit which may continue into adulthood.

Some people have very healthy upper chakras, but it's their lower chakras that need balancing or vice versa.

Some believe that by the time many of us reach adulthood, we have partially closed down most of our chakras or that many of us have chakras with imbalances due to energy blocks created from stress and the difficulties and challenges of life.

Some say we come into this life with a certain set of life challenges already factored into our chakras. This partly determines our attitudes and behaviors.

There are those that believe the imbalances in our chakras are in part from our childhood, cultural experiences, and life experiences as an adult. They say that one of the ways we try and protect ourselves is by closing down the relevant chakra so we won't feel those uncomfortable emotions. It is a defense mechanism.

The imbalance of energy does not usually occur in response to a single event. It is the repetition of similar events without relief and healing that eventually closes off the chakra or causes the energy imbalance, blockage, or leakage.

Yogis knew that a person's illness often first manifests in the chakras before the physical body. They knew that no one could be completely healed if the chakra system continued to be out of balance. When there is an imbalance in one part of the chakra system, it has an impact on all the other chakras.

Imbalances occur when there is too much or too little energy flowing through the chakras. By understanding how each chakra affects a particular body function and life issue, it is possible to identify where a chakra is malfunctioning. Various techniques can then be used to balance the chakra system and restore health in the individual physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Sound Baths are one of the effective methods for rebalancing and transformation.

Your body's energy system is extremely important, powerful, and should be taken seriously. I highly recommend Sound Baths as an effective, enjoyable, and relaxing way to create greater well-being in all areas of your life.
